Rehearsing Hospitalities Companion 2 is the second in a series of readers published by Frame Contemporary Art Finland and Archive Books, which accompany Frame’s five-year public programme Rehearsing Hospitalities.
The 2020 edition looks into questions of hospitality and access. It is a site for hosting and gathering, for coming together through and in our differences in disconnected times. Featuring 16 contributions, the publication will be released digitally on Tuesday 22 September in open access-format with hard-copies distributed by Archive Books.
“Now more than ever we need to be consciously reconsidering diverse forms of hospitalities and ways of being together,” say the editors Yvonne Billimore and Jussi Koitela. “With this publication we wanted to look beyond normative and institutionalised understandings of access. How can arts organisations and institutions treat access not as general or universal policy, but instead understand access needs as coming from plural and decentralised ways of knowing and experiencing the world?”
Rehearsing Hospitalities Companion 2 comprises contributions from artists, curators and thinkers Camille Auer, Yvonne Billimore, Annet Dekker, Denise Ferreira da Silva, Aimi Hamraie, Hanna Helander, Jussi Koitela, Ali Akbar Mehta, Astrida Neimanis, Marietta Radomska, Marianne Savallampi, Laura Soisalon-Soininen, Minna Tarkka, and Touko Vaahtera.

How to get your copy of the publication
The publication is released digitally on 22 September in open access-format with hard-copies distributed by Archive Books.
To celebrate the launch, Frame will distribute a limited number of hard copies for free. These can be collected from Frame office space on Thursday 24th September and Thursday 1st October from 10am to 3pm. Please note a member of staff will greet you at the door with a copy of the publication but we can not host visitors inside the office at this time.

Series of online readings in September and October
Expanding on the notion of a publication as a site for gathering, the publication launch will take the form of a series of four online reading events with various publication contributors. These events open up a selection of texts and place different writers in dialogue with each other.
