Maarit Suomi-Väänäsen video piece Mini Spectacles 1-9: Koskee, Korpee, Sorsii, Virtaa and Vastavirtaa will be screened at the Experimental Film Fest in Portland, U.S.A. on May 22nd. Suomi-Väänänens’ Mini Spectacles are minute-long cinematic haikus. Mini Spectacles were shot at various locations in Bosnia Herzegovina, France, Finland, Egypt and the United States during 2010-2013.
Another piece by the artist, In a Musty, Misty Thicket, will be screened at the Montreal Underground Film Festival on May 25th. The film was first seen on Mänttä Art festival in Mänttä, Finland in 2011. In a Musty, Misty Thicket can be seen at Forum Box Gallery in Helsinki until May 18th.
