Internship programme for the Venice Biennale 2017

Frame is launching an internship programme for the Finnish national exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2017.

The internship is offered to the students of the CuMMA and ViCCA Master’s Programmes (Aalto University), the Praxis Master’s Programme and the Fine Arts students (University of the Arts), Helsinki.

The internship programme is a collaboration between Frame Contemporary Art Finland, University of the Arts and Aalto University.

The internship programme

The programme offers an internship program primarily for students of contemporary art and curating and who are interested in gaining first-hand experience of how a biennale exhibition is run. The program is a learning experience for all who take part, allowing them to gain practical experience of exhibition operations, familiarity with the oldest contemporary art biennale in the world and an opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural life of the city of Venice.

Tasks

Tasks include managing the exhibition during opening hours to the public, assisting visitors, presenting the exhibition to them and giving guided tours. Interns assist in the daily operation of the exhibition approximately four full days a week. They prepare the pavilion prior to opening, guard the exhibition, answer questions from the public and close the pavilion at the end of the day. Part of the experience is work of a varied nature. The pavilion is open to the public six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday.

The applicant

The duration of internship period is 6 weeks. Acquaintance with the Finnish contemporary art field and organisations and an ability to work in English are essential. The applicants may apply for funding from their respective universities.
