Grant call for international presentations of Finnish contemporary art in 2026–2027

Frame Contemporary Art Finland has opened a round of grant applications for international presentations featuring Finnish and Finland-based contemporary artists in 2026–2027. From 1 to 31 March, applications are accepted for mobility grants, publication grants, and production grants.

Frame’s grants are available to artists, contemporary art professionals, and local and international contemporary art organisations. The grants are awarded to promote and support the presentation of Finnish art abroad, such as for the purpose of international exhibitions, commissions and publications, the participation of Finnish galleries in international art fairs, and networking-related travel by contemporary art professionals.

Frame’s field of activity is visual art, with an emphasis on contemporary art. It also includes interdisciplinary art forms such as sound, performance, and installation art when presented in the context of contemporary art. Frame’s grants also support comic art and arts and crafts.

Call for grant applications throughout March

This year’s first grant application round will be open 1–31 March 2026, when grants can be applied for international projects of Finnish contemporary art in 2026–2027. There are three types of grants available in the March application round: mobility grants for travel and transportation, publication grants for art publications, and new production grants for international commissions.

In all categories, grants can be applied for by individual artists and art professionals, working groups, and registered organisations.

The deadline for grant applications is Tuesday, 31 March 2026 at 11.59 pm Finnish time (UTC +3).

  • The mobility grant supports the international presentation of existing artworks and networking of contemporary art professionals. The trip or presentation of the artworks must take place outside Finland.
  • The production grant enables the implementation of a new commission or other production-related collaboration internationally on a co-production basis. The production supported by the grant must be presented outside Finland.
  • Publication grant supports publications intended for international distribution that showcase the work of Finnish or Finland-based artists.
  • Decisions are made within one month of the application deadline.
  • Frame’s grant decisions are based on peer review. The names of the peer reviewers are public.
