Initiated by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux, Kopioitu (Copied) is a project bringing together twelve artists to create two copies of the same artworks in Helsinki and in Brussels. The focal point is to address the question of originality and tackle the boundaries of the uniqueness of creative processes. The artworks can be created using any medium. The project has been realised by a collaboration of Brussels-based curatorial collective and gallery Komplot, curator Aura Seikkula, SIC in Helsinki and Helsinki International Artist-inResidence Programme HIAP.

The project consists of two residency periods, two exhibitions and a publication. From August 19th the artists will work at the artist residency of HIAP in Helsinki for a week. Their stay will finish result in an exhibition at SIC opening August 23rd. Nine days afterwards, the artists will be working in Brussels and create another exhibition for Komplot, opening on 6th of September.  Both shows will run in parallel for approximately two months. The exhibitions will be documented in a publication.

Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux supports Kopioitu in association with the Finnish Embassy of Belgium and Belgian Embassy of Finland. Frame Visual Art Finland supports SIC collective in the project.
