Two Finnish galleries to ARCOmadrid Opening programme

Two Finnish galleries have been selected to Opening programme of ARCOmadrid art fair. Make Your Mark Gallery and gallery SIC will participate the art fair in February 2014. The galleries will also be part of the #FocusFinland programme. The Finnish programme at the fair consists now of 13 galleries and the #FocusFinland Pavilion.

Make Your Mark is a gallery for graffiti, photography and visual art. It was founded in 2011 and is curated by two graffiti artists in Helsinki. At the ARCOmadrid art fair Make Your Mark presents the work of Finnish graffiti artist Egs.

Egs is the most internationally recognized Finnish graffiti artist. During the past 25 years he has painted in over 40 countries around Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. His work has been displayed in galleries and museum around Europe. Egs sees his art as an anthropological research into graffiti. He has sought inspiration in local graffiti scenes worldwide and collected global graffiti folklore for his own art.

SIC is a non-profit gallery for contemporary art situated in Helsinki. Established in 2012 by nine artists, SIC has presented exhibitions of both Finnish and international artists. SIC’s artists for ARCOmadrid will be published later.

The Finnish programme at ARCOmadrid is coordinated by Frame Visual Art Finland. #FocusFinland will be organized together with selected partners: the galleries, Kiasma, Museum of Contemporary Art, the Finnish Institute in Madrid, the Finnish Embassy in Madrid and Finpro. ARCOmadrid will be held in Madrid from 19–23 February 2014.
