This June, we are excited to collaborate with HAM Helsinki Art Museum in inviting contemporary art professionals to visit Finland during the opening week of the Helsinki Biennial. Annually, Frame hosts 20–30 international curators, researchers and contemporary art professionals from museums and biennials as part of our International Visitor Programme to support international networking and future collaborations in Finnish contemporary art.
Guests include Bruno Alves de Almeida and Aude Christel Mgba (Artistic Directors of Luleå Biennial), Beth Bate (Director of Dundee Contemporary Art, UK), Dominique Fontaine and Miguel A. López (Co-curators of Toronto Biennial of Art), Hitomi Iwasaki (Head of Exhibitions and Curator at the Queens Museum, New York), Storm Janse van Rensburg (Senior Curator at Zeitz MOCAA, Cape Town), Adam Kleinman (Director of Kunsthall Trondheim), Renan Laru-an (Artistic Director of SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin) and Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás (Curator at ZKM Karlsruhe) and Farzaneh Soleimani (multidisciplinary artist and Director of Hoorshid Artist residency in Iran).
Renan Laru-an’s and Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás’ visits are organized in collaboration with the The Finnish Institute in Germany and the Goethe-Institut Finnland. Beth Bate’s visit is organized in collaboration with the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland and Adam Kleinman’s visit in collaboration with The Finnish-Norwegian Cultural Institute.

They have an exciting trip ahead of them, filled with versatile meetings, presentations, exhibition visits and lots of programme organized by the Helsinki Biennial”, says Jussi Koitela, Head of Programme at Frame.
The guests have been invited based on their interest in the content of the Helsinki Biennial and desire to get to know the art scene in Finland.
During the Helsinki Biennial opening week, guests participate in the biennial’s Professional Programme and have individual meetings with local artists and art organisations. For each visitor, Frame’s programme team tailors an individualised programme to support the cross-pollination of ideas and practices over borders and disciplines.
