Frame distributes 130,000 euros in grants for international projects in Finnish visual art

Following its round of project grant applications in November 2015, Frame Visual Art Finland has awarded 100,780 euros in grants for international exhibitions, publications and visits by art professionals taking place in 2016.

Frame received 175 applications in total, 30 per cent of which were approved. The total sum of 100,780 euros was awarded to 53 projects. All in all, applications were received for a total sum of approximately 989,000 euros.

 

Travel grants in February and March

Applications for travel grants opened in February 2016. In February and March, Frame awarded a total of 29,490 euros in travel grants. Travel grants are awarded monthly for projects promoting international cooperation in Finnish visual arts.

 

Grant decisions

Grants are decided by the Board of Directors of the Frame Foundation. The shortlisted candidates are presented to the Board of Directors by the Foundation’s Grant Committee, whose members during the November round of project grants were Curator Mikko Oranen, Chief Curator Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger and Artist Salla Tykkä. The Chair of the Board is Raija Koli, Director of Frame. The members of the Grant Committee during the 2016–2017 term are Curator Henna Paunu, Artist Antti Tanttu and Salla Tykkä. Henna Paunu represents the Board of Directors in the Grant Committee.

Frame’s grants are funded through an annual state subsidy received from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The spring 2016 grant application round was organised in March, and the next round of project grant applications will be in November 2016.Grants for projects taking place in 2017 can be applied for in the November round of applications.
