Frame invites grant applications for visual arts projects in 2016

Frame Visual Art Finland distributes grants to promote Finnish contemporary art internationally. Applications for the next round of project grants will open on Tuesday, 1 March. Grants are awarded in the following fields of contemporary art: visual art, photography, media art, applied art, comics art, performance art and sound art.

Grants are awarded to artists who are either Finnish or based in Finland as well as to Finnish or international curators, producers and organisations. Applications are invited for projects such as exhibitions held abroad, participation in art fairs, foreign-language publications and expert visits, and for covering travel, accommodation or transportation expenses.

Applications apply only to projects planned for 2016. Grants may not be applied for retroactively.

The application deadline is 31 March 2016 at 11:59 pm Finnish time (GMT +2).

Grant applications are to be submitted online via Frame’s grant system. Detailed information on the application procedure is available on Frame’s website.

Book an appointment for a grant clinic

All applicants are invited to book an appointment to a grant clinic held at Frame office on Tuesday, 15 March at 3–6 pm, where applicants can request personal guidance in filling the grant application. Guidance is available in Finnish and English. Please book a 20-minute appointment by contacting Maikki Lavikkala at maikki.lavikkala@frame-finland.fi.

The grant clinic will additionally offer a hotline service on Thursday, 17 March at 1–4 pm. Applicants are requested to reserve a 20-minute phone appointment by contacting Maikki by email.

Frame will notify all applicants of the decisions individually and successful projects will be posted on its website at the end of May. Frame’s grant system is based on annual state subsidies received from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Frame is an information centre for contemporary art. It supports Finnish visual art by promoting international collaboration and increasing exchange between Finnish and international visual art professionals and organisations.
