Frame travel grants now also available to curators outside Finland

Applications for Frame travel grants for international projects related to Finnish contemporary art are open as of Monday, 1 February onwards. This year travel grants are also available to international curators for visits to Finland and Finnish working groups involved in international projects.

Grants are awarded in the following fields of contemporary art: fine art, photographic art, media art, art handicraft, comics art, performance art and sound art.

Frame’s travel grants are designed to give artists and art professionals the opportunity to take part in exhibitions and attend other topical events related to contemporary art at short notice.

 

Guidelines for applying

  • Travel grants are awarded for the purpose of taking part in international exhibitions or other contemporary art events.
  • They are intended to cover only the applicant’s or the working group’s travel or accommodation costs or transportation expenses.
  • Eligible applicants are: 1) Finnish artists and art professionals; 2) non-Finnish artists and art professionals working in Finland; 3) international curators.
  • The grant application must be submitted prior to travelling.

 

Grant applications are to be submitted online via Frame’s grant service.

Applications are open until 31 October 2016 11:59 pm Finnish time.

Frame awards travel grants monthly except for during the summer months. Frame’s grants are funded out of annual state subsidies from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Frame supports international initiatives, facilitates professional partnerships, and encourages critical development of the field through grants, visitor programme and residencies, seminars and talks, exhibition collaborations and network platforms. Frame coordinates Finland’s participation in the Venice Biennale as well as other major international art events.
