La Biennale di Venezia has announced that the 59th International Art Exhibition, which was to take place in 2021, has now been postponed to 2022.
Venice will instead host the 17th International Architecture Exhibition in 2021. The two events alternate every other year.
“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, almost all international art events have had to be postponed. We would have loved to present Pilvi Takala’s exhibition at the Finnish Alvar Aalto Pavilion in 2021, but the biennial organisation made the right decision,” says Raija Koli, Commissioner of the Finnish Pavilion and Director of Frame Contemporary Art Finland. “We will continue as planned on the path to 2022.”
In January, Frame announced that artist Pilvi Takala has been selected to exhibit in the Pavilion of Finland at the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Curated by Christina Li, the exhibition will be commissioned and produced by Frame.
The organisers have announced that the 59th Venice Art Biennale will be held from 23 April to 27 November 2022.
