The new exhibition space of the Academy of Fine Arts, Kuva/Tila, displays contemporary art by young artists and art students. The new gallery was opened for public on October 11. Kuva/Tila aims to be an arena for new artistic experiments and expressions. For art students of the Academy the new exhibition space offers a link to the field of art and the public.
The two-leveled exhibition space is designed to serve different dimensions and forms of contemporary art. In addition to its own exhibitions and solo exhibitions in Kuva/Tila, the academy will also organise other events and seminars in cooperation with domestic and foreign partners.
Gallery’s opening exhibition All of a Sudden features works by 17 students or recently graduated students of the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition shows contemporary art from pickup art to installations, and from paintings to videos and speech-performance. The curators of the exhibition are Villu Jaanisoo and Maaretta Jaukkuri, who are professors at the Finnish Academy of Fine arts, and curator Leevi Haapala, who has also curated the Finnish programme at the ARCOmadrid 2014 art fair.
