Artists Essi Kausalainen and Kimmo Modig have been chosen for artist residencies in London and Cambridge, Great Britain. This autumn, Essi Kausalainen will be in-residence in Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridge and Kimmo Modig in The White Building (SPACE) in London.
The residency programme is organised by the initiative of The Finnish Institute in London in collaboration with Frame Visual Art Finland and HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Programme).
The basis of Essi Kausalainen’s artistic practice is the human body with its senses, thoughts and instincts. By creating performances, video installations and drawings she makes notes on humans and other living things.
Wysing Arts Centre, the 17th century farmhouse in Cambridge, provides alternative environments and structures for artistic research, experimentation, discovery and production, out of which emerges an ongoing programme of exhibitions and public events.
Artist Kimmo Modig works creatively with technology. Having a background as a sound designer, Modig’s projects often include vivid talking and are usually presented on stage or online. His residency takes place at London’s centre for art, technology and sustainability, The White Building, part of leading visual arts organisation Space London in Hackney Wick.
