Dr. Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, founder and art director of the art space SAVVY Contemporary Berlin, will give an open lecture on ’The Sheer Impossibility of Thinking Space or Independence in a World of Dependency’ on Tuesday 15 September at 6pm at Sinne (Iso Roobertinkatu 16, Helsinki).
Dr. Ndikung will be visiting Helsinki as a lecturer of Chambers of Commons residency that brings together ten curators from Finland and Sweden to investigate collectively rooting alliances between sites of production, situated knowledges and practices of commoning. In addition to his work at SAVVY Contemporary, Dr. Ndikung is artistic director and curator at Galerie Wedding, and editor-in-chief of the journal SAVVY|art.contemporary.african, the first bilingual e-journal on contemporary African art.
He has worked as an independent curator, art director and adviser for several international exhibition projects and festivals in Germany, France, Britain and Cameroon and has published more than 20 exhibition catalogues.
The residency and the lecture are organised by Hanasaari – The Swedish-Finnish Culture Centre and Frame Visual Art Finland. The concept and framework for the Chambers of Commons is developed by Giovanna Esposito Yussif in collaboration with Frame Visual Art Finland.
